This week we spent fixing up the pool area by removing all the little stones, laying sand and fake turf. After a few hiccups with breaking a few pipes when removing a tree, we managed to carry on and complete the job before the weekend. Now we have a nice area to put some garden furniture and sit around in the summer.
The first swim of the season. Robyn diving in!!

Finally complete! The first 'sit'....
The garden set ready for use.

Frangipani in the garden
The Racehorse tree (Tipuana) on the property shedding it's beautiful yellow flowers on the ground to make a carpet. You should hear the sound of the bees buzzing overhead!!!
The Poinsiana tree on the driveway. I thought the Jacaranda was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen...but this one just might be it! Stunning red flowers! I am amazed at how the trees just go from flower to flower.....!! So beautiful.

Me in my new reading chair!! We found these chairs for a bargain at the Salvo's and were perfect for our new corner! They are hardly worn and sooo comfortable...

Our new reading corner!!
This is the best room in the house with 3 walls of ceiling to floor windows. Looking out on the garden Carolyn planted. This room was only used as a formal dining, so we decided to make it a reading corner as well. Great light, privacy and view!!

Mum came up for the weekend. This was the first time for her to come up here since I moved here. It was a great time to relax. We took her to Maleny and Montville, and up to Mt Mee for some sightseeing. The first stop was Bribie Island for a coffee. This is right on the water at Blue Anchorage.

We got the sofa's right on the water's edge.

At Birches Restaurant on Mt Mee

The mountains were covered in mist all day
At Mary Cairncross park stopping for a coffee

The Montville Inn was a great place for lunch. It was packed, and I am not surprised. The atmosphere was gold, the entertainment professional, and the food delightful.

This is where Mum plans to put Michael next time...

Back from the depths....!!!!!!!

There are lots of people waiting to hear how we have been, as it has been 4 months since we left Japan. I have tried many times to write a newsletter to tell everyone what has been happening...but so much has happened that I never know where to start, and I end up giving up. So, I decided to do what I love to do best...my blog!! Starting at the start would take forever, and life just keeps going on...so I thought I'd start with the present and work backwards. So, for a while, this blog will be chronologically out of order, jumping between the present and the past, but it's the best I can do to let you know what life is like over here in Oz.
My most recent news is from this weekend just gone.
Carolyn's beautiful, amazing, wonderful, super duper daughter, Robyn, shouted us to an all expenses paid surprise weekend away. It was a thank you for all we did for the ladies camp the week before. She knows how much work we put into it and how tired we were. Her generous gift blew me away! She even offered to take the kids for the weekend and they had a better time with her than they do with me! sheeesh....
I was asked where I wanted to go...within driving distance....and I said, Bundaberg!!
I had always wanted to go to Bundaberg, the land of Ginger Beer and Rum. As a child Dad used to make his own ginger beer under the house, and I loved it! Then I tried Bundaberg ginger beer and it was just like the ginger beer Dad used to make.

BUNDABERG

Ok, so this is not Bundaberg...actually, nowhere near it. It's just across the road from the town where we live at a Highway Rest Stop....but this is how we started our trip. After the hustle and bustle of getting the kids off to school, finishing up church service preparations and packing the car to go, we finally got on the road and were desperate for some breakfast. The place we stopped was really classy and had beautiful breakfasts.

We had the asparagus and crispy bacon omelet with Hollandaise sauce. YUM! This kept us going till dinner time. Oh, plus the divine Caramel, pecan Ice cream we grabbed on the way out.

Five hours later....Bundaberg! Actually, it took more than five hours because we stopped on the way in Gympie and other places to look around.
Driving along the sugar cane fields still looking for a place to stay.

10 mins from Bundaberg is a seaside village called Bargara. We got there just as the sun went down...so at least we could see where the motels where before it got too dark!

We found a great motel that was really cheap but new and roomy. We had a view of the ocean from our rooms...perfect!
Safe in the motel...it was time for dinner. I had the Rib eye steak with Bugs! Yeah, bugs are not insects...but that crayfish looking thing on the plate above. They are usually known as Moreton Bay Bugs to avoid confusion, and taste like a cross between crayfish and crab. YUM again!
Waiting for dinner.....Erinn taught me these self poses, handy for when there is no one to take your pic!The view from the motel in the morning. What a treat!
